This new update would've been great if they also added new skills like
Ice Prison - Elementalist skill
Freezes nearby enemies for 20 seconds, or until dead.
Note* Fire spells do not and cannot melt the ice so that Ice Prison will not break.
Sit Yo A$$ Down! - Shout - Warrior Skills
Monsters within the radius get stuck and unable to walk/run from enemy fires.
Fantasy Island - Mesmer - Illusion Skills
For 30 seconds, Monsters stop dead on its track then hallucinates and see's 4 female Monsters dancing in front of him....naked. Monsters under this Illusion have 75% chance of having a Heart Attack due to over excitement.
Wouldn't you agree??
Only works in PVE tho...

Hello all,
Just to back up on what quickmonty said, please leave the insults out of your posts and try your best to be constructive. Address the issue and the topic at hand, not the other poster's personal character.
With that note, I'll be rather heavy-handed with editing and pruning this thread to keep it as drama and insult free as possible from now on. Please be forewarned! If it's impossible to be level-headed and simply out of your means to post without accusing someone, please do not post at all until tempers cool down a bit.
Thank you!
Aria

Sometimes they will, sometimes they won't. It is absolutely not a sure thing that melee opponents will run from it; try it and see.

I agree farming gratted a lot of money to the farmers but you need that kind of money making sceem to get these kind of items
I bought this game because it wasn't based on time spent playing and I STILL HAVE TO SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS TO GET OVERPRICED ITEMS AND GET CERTIAN SKILLS .
I am currently considing leaving Guild Wars and buying Age of Empires 3 instead of getting Chapter 2.

I agree with these statements 1000%, except im looking more into WoW or Dark Ages of Camelot.

IMO, I just think that the game should not be ver easy at all in a way that you can solo ANY area.
If you want to play an easy game, go play Solitaire on Windows or something ><
This update makes us think more when fighting... And I really liked it.

i wonder if the thought of major runes crossed your mind or you just have to get the best no matter the cost.
if you need an uber object agricultural simulator oops farming game than i hope you are happy wherever you wind up.
imagine the patience for endless grind but no patience to give them a chance to evaluate and make changes.
it looks like you wanted to leave long ago and this is a good excuse.

I am not commenting your views on farming which I don't share, but if you think the update improved strategy, I'd recommend doing an UW or FoW run and see for yourself...
Yes, I LIKE the general idea of making the critters more intelligent, but making them lose aggro when hit with an AoE spell was not exactly helpful to make people use coordinated approaches in PvE...

One side note, Meteor Shower (unless timed incredibly poorly) won't give anything a chance to run, by the time anything gets up they will fall back down. I am sorry but Meteor Shower definatly lost nothing, and is still a potent nuke.

Are the monsters under an obligation to make coordinated approaches easy to execute in PvE, particularly in the most difficult PvE areas?
Before these patches, when hit by an AoE spell, you knew what monsters would do (stand there and suck up damage while attacking their target), and could plan strategy accordingly. After the patches, when hit by an AoE spell, you still know what the monsters are very likely to do (namely, retreat out of AoE range and recalculate aggro based on their new position) and can still plan strategy accordingly.
Is it a little more difficult to coordinate AoE attacks now? Sure, because the monsters aren't quite as predictable in their reactions and flight patterns. Do you need to use positioning, timing and communication well to achieve the same results as before the patches? Sure. But, hey, we're all intelligent people and are capable of that, right?

I still have meteor shower in my skill bar, but my experience since the patch is that usually all but one of the creatures will leave the area of effect while I am casting, leaving only one target to hit. Still, it works quite well, if somewhat expensive, to knock down that difficult target and do significant damage. Great for that tough boss.

I like this update. I play mostly monk (sometimes smite) and ranger (with some AoE.) One thing that attracts me to GuildWars is the constant balancing and updating of skills. Just when I start to get lazy the developers come out with a tweak that forces me out of complacency. Players may have to think laterally to find new ways to use the existing AoE skills. Someone, about 20 pages back, asked about the effect on Ignite Arrows. As of 11/10/05, Ignite arrows would cause monsters to flee after 3 or 4 hits. I can make better use of Hunters Shot now that the monsters actually move around after engaging in combat. Smite spells can be used for crowd control to break off aggro from a monk or any other squishy.
Edited for Clarity

Fissure is no different or harder than it was. I went in this morning with a PUG - 2 wars, 3 eles & 3 monks. All three of the eles were using fire AoE's - the only difference was when they used them, and they used them in conjunction with air & water (unheard of pre 11/11)
We cleared the first area, the second area (including the lich's) and reached the forgemaster in just under 2 hrs

some of the stuff is good but some is just gay, i have seen a ranger vid taking a sand drake with Ignite Arrows and the drake running around so much it only landed 4 hits and then died :P...... was pathitc, i mean it was made farming easy for rangers all they need is Ignite Arrows and every thing will run :P

Just tried that. Drake didn't run, just attacked.
He did, however, run from dual shot.

Heres an idea...give team arenas and competition arena winners fame points.

This is the best statement i've seen on guru for ages.
EDIT - What's the difference between defeating a random team with a random team and defeating an organised team with an organised team?

Man, if the comp/team arenas gave rank, I'd be able to show off at LEAST a wolf by now :P
But... as is, I'll never see any of that stuff, because I don't have the rank to get into the ToPK. Heh.
